A LITTLE CARE FOR A CLEAR COMPLEXION

These days with modern science being what it is, it can sometimes feel like technology has a solution for everything - or at least it soon will have. This is also the case with our skin where there are a multitude of miracle skin care products which can take years off you, make your skin darker or lighter or even more refined! Looking to miracle cures makes us forget the fundamentals of looking after our skin. viz:

1) Sun:
The UV rays contained in sunlight are very harmful for the skin and can also lead to cancer of the skin.
… Except the early morning sun’s rays (source of vitamin d) avoid any prolonged exposure of the body to them.
…. As facial skin is most sensitive cover it well from being exposed to sun.

2) Clean skin
Atmospheric pollutants like, smoke & dust from motor vehicles, industries and use of cosmetic products can clog the pores
… Use a good cleanser which suits your skin type for cleaning your skin after make- up.
… Splash face with cold water regularly.
… Avoid frequent use of soap

3) Hydrate your skin:
The next most important basic rule for young and healthy skin is to keep it moist. It’s more important during summer than in winter.
… Take adequate fluid intake, which includes water (8-12 glasses), juices, butter- milk, coconut water etc (1-2 times a day)
… Include enough of fruits & vegetables in the daily diet.

4) Other factors:
Our routine life surrounded by Stress, Worry & Tensions, often beyond our control
… Daily meditate for few minutes anytime during the day to negate the negative impact of mental or emotional stress. While meditating visualise yourself having a very-healthy & beautiful skin, by giving yourself the auto-suggestion [repeated ten times] “I have a healthy & beautiful skin”.

… Practice yoga or some physical exercise
… Adopt healthy habits & make sure you get enough sound sleep.

The Homeopathic Approach :

Homeopathy has some of the most effective remedies for skin-care.
The tendency to photo sensitivity, dry skin, acne, foul sweat etc can be altered through internal medication. There are medicines that even work to improve the complexion of a person, reduce skin tan, make it look healthy & fairer ! Serious conditions like skin cancer, psoriasis, eczema etc can be either improved or even cured, however chronic they may be.

Homeopathy basically believes that what normally is termed as the skin disease, is not the real disease,! It’s nature’s way of warning us through the least dangerous organ of the body [skin], that there’s something wrong within & we need to do something about it. It is only when the body’s immune systemweakens that the body becomes prone to a disease condition. Hence re-strengthening of the body’s immune forces helps fight & rid the disease condition.

HOMEOPATHY – YOUR BEAUTY AID...for ACNE

Acne vulgaris (commonly called acne) is a skin disease caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units (skin structures consisting of a hair follicle and its associated sebaceous gland). Acne lesions are commonly referred to as pimples, spots, or zits.

PRIMARY CAUSES:

Exactly why some people get acne and some do not is not fully known. It is known to be partly hereditary. Several factors are known to be linked to acne:

• FAMILY/GENETIC HISTORY. The tendency to develop acne runs in families. For example, school-age boys with acne often have other members in their family with acne as well. A family history of acne is associated with an earlier occurrence of acne and an increased number of retentional acne lesions.

• HORMONAL ACTIVITY, such as menstrual cycles and puberty. During puberty, an increase in male sex hormones called androgens cause the glands to get larger and make more sebum.

• Stress, through increased output of hormones from the adrenal (stress) glands, although modern tests have said otherwise and point to this not being a cause.

• Hyperactive sebaceous glands, secondary to the three hormone sources above.

• Accumulation of dead skin cells.

• Bacteria in the pores. Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) is the anaerobic bacterium that causes acne. In-vitro resistance of P. acnes to commonly used antibiotics has been increasing.

• Skin irritation or scratching of any sort will activate inflammation

Several hormones have been linked to acne: the androgens testosterone, dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS), as well as insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-I).

Symptoms of Acne:

There are two main types of acne: non-inflammatory and inflammatory.

i)In non-inflammatory acne, there are usually just a few whiteheads and blackheads on the face. A relatively mild type of acne, it can often be treated effectively with nonprescription medicines. The majority of people with acne have this type of acne.

ii)With inflammatory acne, the whiteheads become inflamed, and red pimples and pustules develop. In its most severe form, inflammatory acne can cause disfiguring cysts and deep, pitting scars of the face, neck, back, chest and groin.

Treatment of Acne:

Use ordinary hygiene on affected areas, washing your face once or twice daily with your usual soap or cleanser. Deodorant soaps may be used, but they are of no particular value for acne.
• Do not scrub or use a loofah. Friction makes acne worse.
• Do not pick or squeeze. This may worsen scarring.

HOMEOPATHY & ACNE:

Homeopathy which basically works to bring your body to a state of harmony, works at the deepest levels in the body to correct & set right the various imbalances, whether with the hormones or otherwise. Hence as these medicines work on the basic causative factors, not only do the acne [or any other skin condition] improve, but in due course of time the very tendency to repeated acne growth could be eradicated, there by often curing the condition for good.

The following medicines generally work quite well to bring back the beauty that one always longs for…

1… KALI SULPH – 6X = 4’tabs, twice daily along with the above medicines.

2… CALCAREA PHOS – 6X = 4’tabs, twice daily along with the above medicines.

NOTE: Intake of a lot of fluids, fresh fruits, salads, coupled with Pranayama & Meditation could help in a big way to improve the skin…
