TIPS TO DE-STRESS ONESELF...

“Things happen” and sometimes “bad things happen to good people”. If we let them, stressful events can build up, wall us in, and eventually stop us from enjoying the good things in life.

All stress isn’t bad. Stress can initiate change, help us focus on the task at hand, and in some cases even save our lives. Yet, when stress builds up, it can result in the opposites— and cause us to spin our wheels, keep us from concentrating, and cause bodily injury and even loss of life.

The most important thing in Managing Stress is to first recognize Stressors in ones life, once these are identified to put them all in the right place.

A few Tips to Help De-stress:

  1. Take a Deep Breath- a Long Deep Breath Relaxes both Mind & the Body
  2. Leave everything & just Stand up... & S T R E T C H...
  3. Take a walk- with your Partner, your Pet, your Ipod...anything that helps you Calm those nerves
  4. Listen to your favorite music.
  5. Exercise, participate in a sport or engage in fun activity
  6. Get a Massage.
  7. Take a Nap.
  8. Take a Warm bath.
These tips can definitely relieve stress for the moment... But what about Long Term?

  • Learn to say "NO"- take & do only all that you can perform, there is no point going over & Delivering Under...
  • Acquit yourself. Sometimes events really are out of control and you really are “Not Guilty”. Quit blaming yourself.
  • When you need help, get help.Whether you need help from kids or spouse in hauling groceries into the house, help from a colleague to solve a work-related problem, or professional help to find the causes of and effectively manage your stress, getting the help you need is in itself a major stress management tip!
  • Spend Time with Yourself - Make Time if Required!! Take a part of your time to recognize the good things in your life.
  • Spend Time with Loved Ones

World Diabetes Day 2009

World Diabetes Day (WDD) is celebrated every year on November 14. The World Diabetes Day campaign is led by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and its member associations. It engages millions of people worldwide in diabetes advocacy and awareness. World Diabetes Day was created in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization in response to growing concerns about the escalating health threat that diabetes now poses.

World Diabetes Day became an official United Nations Day in 2007. This year sees the first of a five-year campaign that will address the growing need for diabetes education and prevention programmes.

Diabetes Education and Prevention is the World Diabetes Day theme for the period 2009-2013. The campaign slogan for 2009 is "Understand Diabetes and Take Control". Diabetes is difficult. The disease imposes life-long demands on the 285 million people now living with diabetes and their families. People with diabetes must deliver 95% of their own care, so it is of paramount importance that they receive ongoing, high-quality diabetes education that is tailored to their needs and delivered by skilled health professionals.

In addition, IDF estimates that over 344 million people worldwide are at risk for type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes can be prevented in the many cases by helping and encouraging those at risk to maintain a healthy weight and take regular exercise. The key messages for everyone are:

§  Know the diabetes risks and know the warning signs

§  Know how to respond to diabetes and who to turn to

§  Know how to manage diabetes and take control

THEMES:
