HOMEOPATHY & SINUSITIS...

Sinuses are chambers beside nose which filter air, maintain temperature and humidity of the inspired air. Sinusitis refers to the infection of these air-filled spaces.

CAUSES:
Allergic response due to inhalation of irritants like pungent vapors, air pollutants
and dust etc

Spread of infection from nose, mouth, throat or tonsils.

TYPES OF SINUS CONGESTION:

1) DRY
2) WET

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF A DRY SINUS:

• No or very little nasal discharge
• Nose block
• Distinct heaviness & pain can be felt in & around the eyes, at the root of the nose or the back of the head.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF A WET SINUS:

• May vary according to type sinus involved.
• Pain or heaviness in the forehead and above eyes, tender to touch.
• Mucus drainage from back of the nose into the forehead and above eyes, tender to touch.
• Mucus drainage from back of the nose into the throat.
• Recurrent cough and cold with blocked nose.

YOUR HOMEOPATHY HOME KIT-

Following are some of the homoeopathic medicines for sinusitis but it is advised that a qualified homoeopathic doctor should be consulted.

1) HEPAR SULPHURICUM 30 :
Symptoms:
• Complaints worse in winter
• Headache especially on shaking the head
• Stuffed nose especially on going into cold air
• Thick, yellow and offensive discharge from nose
• Child is very sensitive to cold wind

2) KALI BICHROMICUM 30 :
Symptoms:
• Thick, stringy, greenish-yellow nasal discharge
• Pain in root of nose and forehead
• Obstruction of nose.

3) NUX VOMICA 30 :
Symptoms:
• Pain above eyes or at the top of head
• Headache worse in sunlight, better by pressure and covering head
• Stuffed nose, gets worse in warm room
• Patient very irritable and oversensitive
• Cannot bear light, smell or noises

4) SANGUINARIA CANADENIS 30 :
Symptoms:
• Right sided headache or pain above the right eye
• Pain worse from exposure to sun, especially between sunrise to sunset
• Pain better while lying down and sleeping
• Burning sensation in eyes and redness of cheeks.

DOSAGE- 4 pills 3-6 times a day – depending on the severity.

MY SPECIAL RECOMMENDATION-

1) WET SINUS- Hepar sulph 200- 3 pills every twice a week, & Kali bichrom 30- 3 pills daily morning on the rest of the days.
2) DRY SINUS- Sticta pulmonaria 30- 3 pills twice a day for a week.
